2010 Partnership with NAZA

In the spring of 2009 Mayor Karl Dean introduced the Nashville After-school Zone Alliance (NAZA) initiative, which will create and oversee six after-school zones.
The Northeast corridor of Davidson County is the first zone in which NAZA will develop after-school programs by coordinating currently available resources (transportation, facilities, and staff) along with Metro Nashville funding.
NAZA has chosen to partner with Youth Life Learning Centers in 2010 to expand the YLLC after-program at two sites in East Nashville.
“NAZA is excited to support strong after-school providers like YLLC. I hope you’ll stop by to see what’s happening at the Kirkpatrick and Riverchase YLLCs,”
-- Candy Markman

"Only 10 percent of our 21,000 middle schoolers participate in a structured after school program. What we have learned over the last several months is that, in addition to need, there is tremendous interest from our students to be a part of these programs when they’re offered. My goal is for NAZA to sustain the expansion and existence of neighborhood-based programs for the long-term."
-- Mayor Karl Dean

YOUTH LIFE LEARNING CENTERS address the most critical need in urban communities; at-risk children growing up in our inner city neighborhoods.
Because of their extraordinary program effectiveness and remarkable financial efficiency Youth Life Learning Centers (YLLC) represent a best-choice for charitable contributions and volunteerism.
Currently, Youth Life Foundation of Tennessee operates five faith-based after-school programs in inner-city Nashville, one in Memphis, and one in Jacksonville, FL together serving over 350 students from 22 elementary schools.
