VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Not only do volunteers help with important work that needs to be done, they become role models for children who are looking for someone to emulate. See VOLUNTEER APPLICATION. Volunteer Tutor Job summary: This position involves working directly with the children under the direction of the YLLC program staff. Volunteer tutors will assist in the following areas: implementing individualized lesson plans, checking homework, distributing assignments, preparing snacks, and assisting with light clean-up at the end of each day. Volunteer Program Assistant Job summary: Volunteers in this position offer support to the program/administrative team through a variety of activities pertaining to the everyday work flow. Volunteer Program Assistant Job Summary: Assist program staff on Fun Fridays that incorporate recreational activities. Development Office Volunteer Job summary: This position offers many levels of support including graphic design, video production, and website management. Development Office Volunteer Job summary: Student volunteers with backgrounds in statistical analysis and research methodology can assist in data collection and analysis of student performance. Translator/ Interpreter Job summary: Volunteer translators tutor students and assist with their homework using primarily English and the student’s native tongue. Translators at times assist with translations for parents, particularly on parent nights. Volunteer Research Assistant Job Summary: Volunteers with an interest in social research participate in ongoing community assessments conducted by the Youth Life Foundation of Tennessee. These projects include various types of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, including internet research, surveys, ethnographic studies, etc. Volunteer Craftsman Job Summary: Periodically, volunteers take on project that require building or renovations skills. Project vary from maintaining current facilities to renovating and building out new centers. Development Office Volunteer Job summary: This position offers many levels of support including data entry, answering phones, putting together mailers and presentation packets. Volunteer Facility Maintenance Job summary: This position involves cleaning, painting, and updating facility.
